The topic of cultrual diversity can be an argument waiting to happen depending on who you discuss it with. For me I think it is important to have it in a community and that the government should be actively involved in protecting it. To me our culture is what seperates us from everyone else, it is why no two people are the same. It is why people are able to experience new things in life and see what else is going on in the world.
I have a few reasons for feeling this way though they may all relate back to each other. My first reson would be the experiences we would miss if we did not have cultural diversity. The different languages you hear and learn in school as well as in the community would be gone. The different resturants you love to eat at would slowly start shutting down. Our government works hard to protect animals and plants that are going extinct so why not do that same for peoples culture? Instead of making laws to convert people to one culture why not embrace the one they already have. I am not saying for example when people come to the united states people should not have to learn our language or customs but instead of trying to force them to no longer speak their native lanaguage and forget about their customs and culture, try to find away they can combine. If we expect people to learn the way we do things why shouldnt we have to do the same? One culture is not better than another and I think everyone should have the same support.
I could only think of three reasons why my answer could be wrong. The first reason is money, our economoy is already suffering with out having to support other cultures. It can be argued that we have way better things to be throwing our money at which may be true. My next reason would be schools, the education system is set up for native speaking students for example in the United states the education system is set to favor english speaking students. If the government supports cultural diversity the school system may need to change its curriculum. My third reason would be jobs, again relating this back to the U.S. why would we want to have to work harder to talk to people in the work place and have people who have different belifs in one place it would cause problems and make things alot more difficult. Even with these reasons I would not change my answer becuase we can addapt. In schools instead of changing the work why not just addapt it so that non native speakers can understand since the main focus should be giving children knowlegde. As for jobs we pay people more for being able to speak multiple languages so basically diversity is already being supported there.
